Present at OTC 2008, GeoDynamics developed an innovative reactive perforating technology: Connex. Offering unparalleled tunnel performance and increased efficiency, Connex creates a secondary reaction in the perforation tunnel, clearing it of debris like no other.
Using a proprietary liner metallurgy and charge design, Connex by GeoDynamics Engineered Perforating Solutions packs a punch similar to TNT -- providing debris-free tunnels. With no need for significant underbalance when perforating, the depth of penetration with this reactive perforating technology is similar to deep-penetrating charges.
The Connex system was recently put to the test at Crawford Energy's Finley #5 well targeting the Y-3 Frazier sand. Because of Connex reactive perforating technology, the well's productivity was increased by a factor of 3, and the company scheduled the well for re-completion to take advantage of its increased potential.
"As a result of this and three more highly successful deployments, Crawford has made Connex the system of choice for all future re-completions and their upcoming new drill campaign," reports GeoDynamics.
Additionally, tests on Connex prove that clear tunnel depth is increased by 44%, tunnel surface area is increased by 164% and tunnel volume is increased by 355%.
"If you apply the right science, it makes a big difference," summarized Nathan Clark, ballistics expert with GeoDynamics.
