In 2007, Headhunter Inc. received a long-awaited patent on its new method for wastewater treatment. Located in OTC 2008 booth 1705, Headhunter's sewage treatment systems with this new patent use a unique cross-flow filtration for separating solids.

Headhunter's TIDALWAVE HMX compact sewage treatment systems are designed for instant starts and stops with up to a 189-cubic meter daily treatment capacity in standard models. Chemical oxidation, hydro-maceration and the newly patented cross-flow filtration techniques work together to destroy influent biomass. An optional Electrocatalytic system makes its own bleach from seawater and eliminates the use of outside consumables for treatment. The treatment system works in four stages and treats both black and gray water, leaving behind a clean effluent. Covered with a flexible ceramic, epoxy coating, the marine grade aluminum or steel systems come with a controller which allows treatment customization to meet the varying performance needs of individual customers.

"Everyone in the marine industry is familiar with the reverse osmosis process for creative fresh water from seawater," Headhunter's Vice President of Sales Mark Mellinger said. "Now Headhunter has mastered the application of this technique as applied to the wastewater treatment process."

With nearly 100 systems installed on varying water vessels in 2007, Headhunter's TIDALWAVE HMX treatment systems are Type II Marine Sanitation Devices certified by the U.S. Coast Guard. The systems also meet worldwide distribution and use standards from the International Maritime Organization.
