Better subsea accuracy is available with the new X-mas tree sensor introduced by Presens.
Norwegian sensor technology company Presens AS has hit the market with a smaller, lighter X-mas tree pressure and temperature sensor. "The shape of the flange and the pressure-compensated probe shaft have allowed us to reduce the size and weight by almost 70 percent in comparison to other current solutions on the market," said Project Manager Paal Martin Vagle. "We have combined mathematics, mechanics, electronic and more than 250 years of experience in a way that uniquely optimizes the attributes of our core technology."
The new sensor has a total weight of only 6.5 kilos (approximately 15 lbs.) a total accuracy of better than +/- 0.025 % FS, 1 year drift of better than +/- 0.02% FS and an inherent tolerance to over-pressure and pressure spikes.
"The sensor has better handling capabilities as well as better temperature accuracy," said Vagle. "While other sensors need a thick wall and a lot of material to keep their accuracy, ours does not."
