Developing a monobore open-hole liner system that reduces installation risks and drilling hazards, Weatherford won the OTC 2008 Spotlight on New Technology Award for its MetalSkin system.
By negating the slimming of a well profile during well construction, MetalSkin enhances well productivity and reservoir recovery.
Using an oversized shoe and an expandable liner extension, the monobore open-hole liner system provides an expanded string of casing with the same drift as the previous casing string. Therefore, a string of casing is gained without loss of hole size.
