An OTC 2008 Spotlight on New Technology winner, the Wireless Vibration Sensor provides early detection of potential bearing failures.
Developed by ABB, AS with SKF and SINTEF, and under a program sponsored by the Research Council of Norway, the Wireless Vibration Sensor communicates measurements wirelessly to a central unit using the WirelessHART standard.

The sensor is made up of a vibration sensor (accelerometer), temperature sensor and wireless communication equipment. Communicating data to a central unit that then processes the information, the product then sends the information to users. The devise's frequency response is ideally flat up to 10 kHz.
Headquartered in Switzerland, the ABB Group operates in 100 countries around the world. Developing and supplying the energy industry with power and automation technologies, ABB leads the industry in power products and systems, automation production, process automation, and robotics.
